Swimming Talent Identification

One of the Swimming Training Scheme Coaches will be making visits to Kippax Leisure Centre during the period of 30th September – 18th October 2019, with a view to identifying talented children who have the potential to succeed in the sport of Competitive Swimming.
Those children who are identified will be invited to attend the second phase of the talent identification process. This event will take place at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds on Monday 28th October 2019 and will provide those who have been invited with an overview of Competitive Swimming in the City of Leeds.
The children will undertake a series of activities and those swimmers who are deemed to be of the required standard will be offered a place in one of the Leeds City Council’s Stage 8 Groups, which is the main progression route into the Leeds City Council’s Swim Training Scheme.
The Leeds City Council’s Swim Training Scheme, which is linked with the City of Leeds Swimming Club, is well renowned for producing some of the country’s best swimmers; some of which have gone on to represent Great Britain in major international events such as the Olympic Games. Most recently, Georgia Coates, a product of the School Talent Identification process, represented Team GB at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Our Collective Worship Focus - Autumn 1.5

This week we will be inviting, including and inspiring our school community to consider
My God is my strength in whom I trust Psalm 18.2
Trust -  “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
We trust in the Lord because He and He alone is truly trustworthy. His Word is trustworthy (Psalm 93:5; 111:7; Titus 1:9),

Hasting Class Assembly

Thank you Hastings Class for your assembly and your presentation of the work you have been doing in class. It was very interesting hearing about your work linked to your topic 'Darwin's Delights'. It was also very clear listening to your accounts and memories that your really did have an amazing time at Robinwood, completing over 15 different activities! You used your presentation voices very well and certainly did the job of advertising our residential trip to next year's Year 6s!

MacMillian Coffee Afternoon

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our coffee afternoon. Well done also to our fantastic Year 5 children who hosted and ran the event. We raised £50.

New Parents Open Day

Today, we opened our doors to welcome families considering sending their children to Lady Elizabeth Hastings. Thank you to our LEAP association who provided a warm welcome with coffee, tea and cake!
After welcoming the children and parents/careers and giving them a brief overview of our school vision and ethos I introduced our Year 6 children, the 'living product' of an education at Lady Elizabeth Hastings school. In pairs, the Year 6 children showed families around our outdoor environment, Forrest school, the ARK, and Main school. The Year 6 children gave thorough commentaries of life at Lady Elizabeth Hastings and clearly and honestly answered the questions asked. As I met with each family as they left, they were full of praise of their guides, with a number of families commenting that their wish was for their young child to grow up to be as polite, informative and confident as our Year 6 children. You sold it Year 6 #proudactingheadteacher

Meet the teacher

Thank you to everyone who attended. We hope that you found the meetings useful and have a clearer understanding of the teaching and learning your child will be engaging in throughout the year. We hope you understand the rationale behind our homework system and other new policies. We look forward to your continued support and welcome any feedback. If you were unable to join us please look through the information packs you have been sent home and please contact your child's teacher if you have any further questions.

Religious Education in Ledston Class (YR)

Today I had the pleasure of going to observe Religious Education teaching and learning in Ledston class. The children were thinking about 'Who made the world?'. Mr Edwards wondered... the children wondered... then Mr Edwards then showed the children a special book that Christians believe helps to give answers to questions like this.  The children then took part in the retelling of Genesis 1, this made everyone wonder more... the activities set up throughout the setting up got the children showing, investigating and talking about what the Bible story said.

OPEN MORNING - Thurs 26th September 2019 10am - 11pm

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for considering our school for your child. We believe you’ve made an excellent choice! Starting school is an important and special time for your child, and also for you as a family. We are privileged that you are considering to place your child in our care. We will work with you to build a strong, effective, positive partnership between home and school. Keeping you informed of your child's progress and learning is something we consider a priority. We provide opportunities for you to have insight into your child's progress at regular intervals throughout this important first year, and continue this throughout your child’s time at our school in a variety of ways. We pride ourselves on being approachable, and together with the joint support from home and school, we are sure your child will appreciate the value of school and be happy and motivated to learn.

Lady Elizabeth Hastings is a happy and harmonious Church of England school, where all of our children are accepted as unique individuals, encouraged to develop their personal skills and talents, to the best of their abilities, and supported and nurtured to become thoughtful, caring individuals under the careful direction of a dedicated staff team. Children at our school are given opportunities for inspiring, rich learning experiences within a caring environment. Our Christian ethos is central to all of our work in school, with every individual being accepted, valued and encouraged to be their very best. We will work together in school; with yourselves, governors, parishioners and members of our community, to help your child to learn, and love to learn, embrace challenge, within a safe, nurturing environment. We want everyone to be happy whilst achieving the highest possible standards of achievement and behaviour-we aim for a balance of excellence and enjoyment. We challenge every child to be the very best that they can be, we never put a ceiling on a child’s learning, but encourage children to find faith within themselves and always reach for the stars! We want all of our children to become well-rounded individuals and, whilst we nurture and care for the children, we teach them the importance of being interdependent and resilient learners.

We provide a vibrant and stimulating learning environment, with an excellent range of provision, to allow your child to flourish in every possible way. We strive for excellent teaching across school, within an encouraging and caring atmosphere, helping children to develop as balanced individuals. We aim to promote a life-long love of learning and a thirst for knowledge, as well as ensuring our children develop respect and tolerance for those around them. We look forward to working alongside you and providing the best possible primary school experience for your child.

Our Collective Worship Focus - Autumn 1.4

This week we will be inviting, including and inspiring our school community to consider
- Who they know that they really respect and why they respect them?
Respect – do you have to give it to get it?
Respecting people’s feelings, they may not mean anything to you, but everything to them
