Y2 Skipping Festival

Well done to all our Y2 children who represented our School at Brigshaw High School at the annual Skipping Festival. There were many outstanding individual performances but we feel that special mention needs to be given for the team skip who achieved the highest score of skips in one minutes in the whole authority! Skipping is an excellent way to stay fit, it's fun and you can really challenge yourself with all the different styles of skipping and trying to improve on your personal bests. Y2 children you will have another go at competing in Gascoigne class, let's see if we can achieve a school best!

New Starters Meeting

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the new starters meeting. It was lovely to meet up with you all. I know there was a lot of information shared and when asked if you have any questions your mind may have goes blank. Please get in touch with school if you have anything to ask. Please ensure you get all the paper work back to school as soon as possible, thank you.

Open the book Assembly

Today our friends from Open the Book came to share the second installment of 'Joseph and his technicolor dream coat'. Some children got the opportunity to join in and play the parts of Joseph's brothers again. The story really helped us think about forgiving and helping one another. We look forward to next years program of Open the Book presentations and we thank all the team that have visited throughout this last year.

Confirmation

Today, I joined 4 other members from the congregation of Ledsham and Fairburn Church, to become confirmed. The service was led by Bishop John, the bishop of Selby, whose sermon on this day of Pentecost gave a very visual and powerful message about how Christians’ draw strength and faith from regularly meeting together and learning about the life of Jesus Christ. During confirmation classes, I’ve explored my faith, questioned, research, reflected ... giving time has given more time. Anyone contemplating joining the church, returning, becoming baptised or confirmed ... take that next step.  The clergy and congregation of Ledsham and Fairburn warmly welcome new and returning parishioners at any time. The next communion service is at 10am, Sunday 16th June at Ledston Hall chapel.m, All further services and church groups are publicised on the school notice board and on our web site. Finally, I must say thank you to baker of the fabulous flapjack!

Mad Science

Great to see so many of our children taking up the opportunity to find out more about the wonders of science. Today the children made a wave (of the water type) generator to take home.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting the Brigshaw Leaning Partnership’s vision of a collective production of a stage production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was very ambitious project to give each of the 7 local primary school a scene, and to bring it together in one day to produce a performance worthy of a paying audience. I was so proud to see our children preform with confidence and skill on stage as well as supporting all the other children from neighbouring schools. Certainly something we’ll be signing up for next year. Oh! I’ll post the pictures when they get sent through.

Baby and Toddler group

It was lovely to see some of our youngest members of the Lady Elizabeth Family meeting today in the Wheler building, and have fun together. Next meeting is Thursday 20th June,

Thank you to all the residents and friends of Lady Elizabeth Hastings School who worked together and organised this event. Thank you also to everyone who attended and supported our working together initiative, bringing the local residents and members of our school family who do not live in Ledston together.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this time as I was at a health and well being conference at Leeds Beckett University although I hope to attend the next one on;
Tuesday 2nd July at 9am to 10.30am in the Wheler Buildin

Cross Country

Last night, some of our Key Stage 2 children stepped up to represent our school at the Brigshaw Learning Partnership's Key Stage 2 cross country competition. Competing against children for 7 other local primary school, all our children did themselves proud. A special mention must go to Poppy who came in 5th in a very strong field of runners. Thank you to all the parents who transported and cheered our children on and to Mr Tomlinson for his supervision. Unfortunately, there were no photos taken, but listening to the recount of the event I think it would have been hard to 'catch' our children!
