Swimming Talent Identification

One of the Swimming Training Scheme Coaches will be making visits to Kippax Leisure Centre during the period of 30th September – 18th October 2019, with a view to identifying talented children who have the potential to succeed in the sport of Competitive Swimming.
Those children who are identified will be invited to attend the second phase of the talent identification process. This event will take place at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds on Monday 28th October 2019 and will provide those who have been invited with an overview of Competitive Swimming in the City of Leeds.
The children will undertake a series of activities and those swimmers who are deemed to be of the required standard will be offered a place in one of the Leeds City Council’s Stage 8 Groups, which is the main progression route into the Leeds City Council’s Swim Training Scheme.
The Leeds City Council’s Swim Training Scheme, which is linked with the City of Leeds Swimming Club, is well renowned for producing some of the country’s best swimmers; some of which have gone on to represent Great Britain in major international events such as the Olympic Games. Most recently, Georgia Coates, a product of the School Talent Identification process, represented Team GB at the 2016 Olympic Games.
