Hilary Robinson visit on World Book Day

Staff, parents and children enjoyed Hilary Robinson's visit to Lady Elizabeth Hastings today. Our theme for the day was 'Mixed Up Fairy Tales' (taken from the title of one of Hilary's books).

We started the day with a whole school assembly at 8.50 a.m. to which parents were invited. Hilary shared a presentation of well-known traditional Fairy Tales.....there were a few not so well known too!

Red Riding Hood was a popular choice for the girls and we had a number of dashing woodcutters, a few wolves, bears and a wonderful Prince Charming!

Hilary visited each class in turn and the children had fun imagining how the story would unfold if , for example, the story title was Cinderella and the Beanstalk. Hilary's Top Tip that she always gives aspiring writers is " Think of the ending first" Great advice!

Teachers will be helping children to write their own mixed -up Fairy Tales in the next few days. We look forward to reading their completed stories.
