Huge thanks to Reverand Andy, Audrey and the church wardens for their preparation of All Saint's Church ready for today's Mother's Day Service service. The church looked amazing lit up with candles and the sun shining through the stain glass windows.
Huge thanks also to all the children and their families for your attendance today. The children from the school choir sang beautifully (all credit to Miss Smith's hard work back in school) and there were no major technical hitches! Thank you also to Filippa, Lola, Laila and Xavier for their readings. What a fitting way to start off Mother's Day!

Year 6 Elite Dance Festival
It was Y6s turn today to perform! After weeks of rehearsal our Y6 joined other troops of Y6 children at the Civic centre in Castleford to compete against other local schools at the Elite Sports Dance festival. The judges said our entry was very enegetic and included some very ambitious moves and that we came very close runners up to the festival winners Darrington Primary School. Well done Y6 and thank you to all the parents and familiy members who transported children.

A Woodwind Concert
Today, our Year 5 children treated everyone in school, and their families and friends to a woodwind recital. This included pieces by the whole orchestra and solos from each type of instrument, all note perfect!
Last September, all the children in Year 5 were invited to choose a woodwind instrument to learn. Some chose the clarinet, others the, bassoon, saxaphone, oboe or flute, and each week the children have had lessons and worked as an orchestra. It was lovely to listen to and witness how much the children have learnt. We look forward for their next concert!

Body percussion
Today, Gascoigne class created music using their bodies. After copying and learning a piece of body percussion music, the children worked in groups to compose their own piece of body percussion music based around the theme of journeys. All the groups then performed their compositions. It was very impresive to listen to and watch the children's interpretations. Well done Gascoinge, your critiquing of each other's performances were very respectful and supportive.
Y1 Multi-Skills Tournament at Brigshaw High Schol
Today, we took two teams to compete against teams of Y1 children from all 7 other Brigshaw Learning Partnership primary schools. This was our children's first competition and they really tried hard and supported one another. The children get another go at this competition in Y2, so let's get training and see if we can win some silverware next year!
