Fruit Sculptures

We love our striking fruit sculptures based on the work of a range of still-life artists such as the French artist Paul Cezanne. We have improved our mastery of art and design techniques using Papier Mache. Some of our creations look good enough to eat! Thank you Mrs C.....we look forward to our weekly art lessons!

Wilderness Adventures

What an amazing challenge Steve, Director of Wilderness Adventures, took on this morning in our school grounds! Oscar Bedford had filled in the hazardous pond during the Summer holidays, but the area quickly became overgrown with brambles, nettles and weeds as you can see from the "before' photos below.

After a few sessions of hard graft, Steve has transformed the area creating seating, a fire-pit and a frame just waiting for a tarpaulin covering so that children can enjoy learning about the natural environment and increase their knowledge of the beautiful habitat in our school grounds. Can't wait to see it in use tomorrow......bring on the rain! (Wish I was in Wheler Class!!)

Bebras Computing Challenge

Children in Year 5 took part in a 'practice'  Bebras challenge today at Queen Ethleburga's College in York. The challenge is designed to get children all over the world excited about computing, particularly focusing on computational and logical thinking.

As a bonus, we had a tour of Queen Ethleburga's....one of the highlights was coming face to face with the 8m high transformer 'Bumblebee', which has to be seen to believed!!!

Up to this point, Brigshaw was our preferred choice of secondary school!!! Our children will complete the 2017 challenge by the end of the week. Early indications (from the practice tests) show that many of our children will receive Distinctions and Merits! A massive thanks to Ms Walker for organising this project and for welcoming us so warmly to Queen Ethleburga's College.

High Five Netball Success

Children in Year 6 and Year 5 represented our school at an inter-school High-Five Netball competition last night at Brigshaw. The team played 4 games and won 3; they played incredibly well when both attacking and defending and were brilliant at working as a team. Many thanks to Mrs CC for training the team! We look forward to the next round!

Gardening Award

Congratulations to Mrs W for being successful in her bid to achieve the Level 1 Gardening Award for our school. With the help of Mr T and children in all year groups, gardening projects and activities are  thriving at Lady Elizabeth Hastings. Thank you, Mrs W!

Skipping Workshop for Year 2's

The Year 2 children had tremendous fun yesterday as Jodi and Leanne visited our school to teach the Y2 children a variety of skipping skills and routines in preparation for the Y2 skipping festival in January. How incredibly fit you need to be to do some of these routines!!
