Madge the Mermaid

Looking forward to reading Madge the Mermaid this weekend? It was lovely to welcome author Stephen Pass to our school on Friday; the children in Lotherton Class enjoyed hearing about the process Stephen goes through when writing stories and seeing some of his earlier first 'drafts'. He gave us some sound advice. Thank you, Mr Pass!

Harvesting potatoes!

Great weather this week for harvesting potatoes!

Thanks to Miss W who has looked after our allotment over the last few months.
It always gives us a thrill when we see the produce we have grown.
Mr T, our caretaker, makes sure our raised growing beds are kept in good shape.

We are always grateful for any donations of compost. We are looking forward to some tasty homemade potato salad in the salad bar next week!

Geared up for 'big school'!

It was lovely to welcome the children who will be starting at Lady Elizabeth Hastings in September.

It didn't take long before everyone was getting along famously!

There was something for everyone.

 Happy smiles all round.
 Learning from one another....

 Enjoying sand play...

Small world play.....

...and getting to know you🎵!Getting to know all about you🎶

Forest School Taster Session

The Y2 children had a fun time last Friday when Mr Furness and his team of 'outdoor rangers' visited our school.
The children 'pulled together' and demonstrated the importance of working as a team.
 They made friendship bracelets.....
and learnt lots of facts about the great outdoors!

Our grateful thanks goes to Mr Godwin from Elite Sports for organising this taster session for us.

Year 6 Working Scientifically!

The children in Y6 planned a scientific enquiry to find out which materials made the most effective filters.

They used a range of scientific equipment....
made sure the 'test' was fair by measuring accurately and precisely...

reported and presented findings from their enquiries.....
set up further comparative and fair tests...
and enjoyed the challenge of working like scientists to support their ideas.

Welcome to Lady Eliabeth Primary School

Some of our new Reception children visited school this week. They joined in learning through play in The Ark indoor and outdoor areas. It was lovely to meet them and their parents and we are looking forward to them joining our school in September. They looked like they enjoyed their visit!

Y6 visit to the Ark design studio

The Year 6 children had the opportunity on Tuesday to spend a couple of hours learning about the design process involved in creating a new 'logo' to advertise our Ark at school. Co-incidently, Mr Bentley's business is also called the Ark and together the children, Brian ( a graphic designer) and Mr Bentley came up with a fantastic logo which will be etched into the frosting on The Ark windows at school. Our grateful thanks go to Mr Bentley and his wonderful team. We hope to see our finished design around the school premises in the Autumn Term.
